What is an American Tournament?

It is a round robin mixed doubles competition, played as 15min rounds on a rotational basis, swapping partners between rounds.

At the end of the evening scores will be tallied and small prizes awarded for the male and female players who win the most games overall.

Any adult member or juniors aged 13+ can play irrespective of their playing ability.

What did I need to do to enter?

  • As player numbers are limited to 12 entry will be on a first come first serve basis so ensure you email membership@odihamtennis.com asap to book your place.
  • If you are a junior aged 13+ and intending to play then please ensure you are accompanied by a responsible adult.

Rules of play for the night

  • 15-minute rounds. Players try to win as many games as they can in the allotted time.
  • Rounds are started and ended with a klaxon.
  • At Round End. When the klaxon sounds whichever pair is leading the game wins the game regardless of the games score.
  • No advantage scoring. If the game score is deuce, it’s a sudden death point to finish the game with receiving pair choosing who will receive the serve.
  • Tied Score. If the score is tied at the end of the round, a sudden death point is played to finish that game with receiving pair choosing who will receive the serve.
  • No Lets Played. If the serve clips the net and lands in the service box, there’s no let and the ball is in play.
  • Changing partners. At the end of each round losers move down towards court 3, winners move up towards court 1 and new pairings are formed by playing a different end and partner.

We look forward to seeing you on court.
